Editor’s note: This post first appeared on an earlier version of this website, under the title “6 Things You Didn’t Know About Kai Swanson-Dale”. It was modeled on (or perhaps inspired) the similarly named post, “7 Things You Didn’t Know About van Foober”, posted on Zeitgeist.

There have been 3 or 4 incarnations of this website; I’ve lost track. The original one launched in 2011 and looked liked this:

The OG: The “Land of Half-Written Pages”. N.B. Most of the pages were actually written all the way, there just weren’t many of them.

It lasted about a year.

The next incarnation was live between 2017 and 2019… I think GoDaddy had a $1 per month managed WordPress hosting promo deal. I didn’t even remember this one and don’t remember what it looked like.

Neither does the Wayback Machine.

The last version and the one I was most happy with was live between 2021 and early 2024. I was flush with Covid money and planned to REALLY make it in publishing. I finally let the hosting lapse as my earnings from royalties amounted to less than it cost to pay TurboTax to file my taxes for earning royalties.

The “What’s at Milemarker 79?” edition. N.B. The question was never answered.

Prior to having my own website, I wrote on a private blogspot account from 2009-2011, and on an old Google site in 2008. As I apparently wrote on the version I don’t remember anything about: “None of those are updated anymore, so if you’re following them (for some reason), you should probably update your RSS.”
